Fantasy of Darkness (excerpt)

Zesker approached the bridge’s windows, peering out through the thick glass, “the enemy’s ships will dock when it is safe to land, we will need to delay the landing somehow, and gather our remaining forces to make a final stand. We can’t save the city, but perhaps we can save ourselves. Walker…” He stood to attention, his head turned towards Zesker. Zesker stood close to him, whispering into his ears, “the enemy ships can only land if it is safe to do so. Meet up with the men near the docking stations and do your best to offer any kind of support you can offer.” Walker nodded quickly, and made his way calmly out of the defense bridge. Zesker now approached Wolf, and too whispered something to him.
“You two, with me,” Wolf ordered two of the officers standing by. They exited the bridge as well.
Kimao stood by two officers, both towering well above him, “now Walker shall be put to the test…”
“What do you mean?” Isabella was concerned.
“We believe there is something more to Walker then meets the eye, and is perhaps the only hope to our people.
“How? He isn’t even one of your kind! What have you sent my brother to die for!?” She got up from her seat, as if she were to pounce on Zesker.
“We have no choice my dear,” Kimao went to explain. “If there really is a hope for the Yuko people, it is what is presented before us.” Isabella now backed down.
“But why…” a teardrop was imminent.
